Mrs. JANE B. ELWOOD was born at Kexby, Lincolnshire, England, and died at Mansfield on Easter Sunday, March 25th., 1883, aged 38 years, 5 months and 2 days.  Se was married to Mr. E.W. Elwood, March 2d., 1869, and came from England to Mansfield in April of the same year.  Two years ago she, with her husband, returned to their native land and spent the winter with their respective family friends, returning to Mansfield in March, 1881.  Since October, 1882, she has been confined to her room, and suffered extremely from internal cancer, but was well supported by divine grace, and kindly cared for by her city friends, and the close attention of her bereaved husband.

Mrs. Elwood was naturally cheerful and social, a lover of children and greatly endeared them to her.  She was a woman of great vitality, but disease and death overcame her vigorous body and laid it in the dust to sleep the calm slumbers of the grave until the great Easter Morning shall dawn on every tomb.

The funeral service was conducted at her late residence, by Revs. Broadwell of Mansfield, and Friedly and Struggles of Shreve, and her poor worn remains were laid away to rest in the Mansfield Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon.
